A David Bowie life mask made for Tony Scott's 1983 horror film The Hunger.
A love triangle develops between a vampire (Catherine Deneuve), her cellist companion (David Bowie) and a doctor (Susan Sarandon).
This life mask is of the Thin White Duke himself, David Bowie. Life masks like this are often made for film and television productions as a way of testing out prosthetics, masks, and other facial appliances without the actor having to sit there for the entire time. Often masks like these are also made for decorative purposes, and this piece features a metal loop on the back so it can be hooked onto a wall.
The piece is made from white plaster, which has discoloured over time. There are spots of grey grime which covers the forehead and much of the reverse. Despite this the piece is in a fair condition.
Materials: Plaster, Ferrous Metals.
