An SFX Giraffe Head from Todd Phillips' 2013 comedy sequel, The Hangover Part III. In the film, the Wolf Pack is thrust into another unwanted adventure when an angry gangster named Marshall (John Goodman) kidnaps Doug (Justin Bartha) as insurance to force his friends to hunt down Leslie Chow (Ken Jeong) to retrieve his stolen gold. This Giraffe Head can be seen near the beginning of the film when Alan (Zach Galifianakis) pulls a giraffe in a trailer on the highway that, well, doesn't make it under the overpass. This decapitated head was used for the effects shot of the head flipping through the air.
The head is crafted of fiberglass, painted tan with brown spots. The head is hollow and from the inside, you can see that the ears are fixed to the head with bolts, and glued around the edges to hide the seams. The ossicones are filled in with plastic. There is a line of hair glued to the back of the neck to create the mane. A 1½” pole sticks out from the side of the neck, which would have been used to spin the head for the effects shot.
This giraffe head shows some wear due to age and production use, and the right ear is beginning to split from the head. Overall, the head is in great condition.
