A special effects oversized crow head used in the production of the 1994 thriller The Crow. Being one of the most integral characters in the movie several live crows were used throughout filming, but sometimes the production required a static hand-controlled subject that wouldn't twitch or flutter at inappropriate moments.
This piece was created for the extreme close-ups on the crow's 'all seeing' blinking eye when he aids the ressurected Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) right the wrongs, a haunting image that could not be achieved with a real bird. It is a very oversized 1/2 head, since only the areas around the eye were required, and is crafted from a wooden box with a hand sculpted surface that has been skilfully flocked with real black feathers. It features an incredibly detailed large brown glass eye whose angle can be shifted via a rudimentary rod and elastic mechanism at the back, and was originally flanked by two eyelids that were manually operated to meet in the middle. The lids themselves have sadly since degraded and been lost, though the technology is still present and can all still be moved with care and caution.

This stunning mechanical piece is presented on a custom built display stand that ensures it is supported properly, and the base features the iconic movie logo that is illuminated via push-button using ultra-bright LEDs. The commanding piece stands at 36cm (14.25”) tall and 21cm (8.25”) wide, and is still in great condition for its age.
