A Raphael head with costume components from Stuart Gillard's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III. Raphael (Matt Hill) and his brothers used ninja skills to rescue April O'Neil (Paige Turco) from evil Lord Norinaga (Sab Shimono).
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, the final film of the highly successful original trilogy, debuted at No. 1 domestically and grossed $54.4 million globally. The films were lauded for the groundbreaking animatronic creature effects that brought the heroes to life. For the third film, Eric Allard's AllFX took over the creation of the animatronics and continued the legacy started by Jim Henson's Creature Shop in the first two films.
This green turtle head features foam latex skin mounted over a rigid underskull with power netting underneath, fixed resin eyes and teeth with slots below the eyes for the wearer, a loose tongue insert marked "Raf," and a red fabric mask. The head comes built into a fiberglass kabuto samurai-style helmet with brass-color embellishments and cannot be separated. Its lower jaw hangs freely, likely due to it being attached as a separate component at one time. Also included is a right arm marked "Will Raf;" leg coverings marked "Bobby" on the right and "Hoyoung R.S.6" on the left; and shorts marked "Raph" constructed of foam latex cast elements over a Spandex base. The shorts connect to the leg coverings with nylon and metal buckle tabs. The foam latex exhibits discoloration, cracking, and crumbling throughout, with the head missing its upper teeth.
Estimate: $4,000 - 8,000
