Our expert's notesA set of Mugambe Bones from Carl Schenkel's 1998 action adventure Tarzan and the Lost City.
The night before he is due to marry Jane (Jane March), John Clayton – also called Tzarxan (Casper Van Dien) – sees a vision of his childhood home in great danger. He leaves for Africa to help and comes up against corrupt treasure hunter Nigel Ravens (Steve Waddington).
Mugambe threw his mystical bones during the movie's climactic scenes where they animated upon hitting the ground, resurrecting ancient warriors in skeletal form to do battle with Ravens (Steve Waddington) and his men.
Each bone is shaped like a wishbone and made from fired clay. They have been realistically painted with shades of brown and yellow to resemble very old human bones, with scarred and pitted surfaces to convey their age.
Despite intentional distressing and wear from use during production, the bones remain in very good condition.
