Tales Of The Riverbank

Roderick The Rat Puppet and Boat

Stock #23393

A static Roderick puppet and his boat from the 2008 British family adventure Tales of the Riverbank.

The heart-warming live action movie is populated entirely by puppets and follows the tale of Hammy the Hamster, Roderick the Rat and GP the Guinea Pig in their quest to stop the Fat Cats destroying their beloved Riverbank with the Big Dirt. Roderick is voiced by British comedian Steve Coogan in the film, and the suave little rat takes pleasure in being captain of his newly discovered boat, complete with a perfectly sized captain hat.

This version of Roderick differs to the usual puppets by having no holes for puppeteering and being a solid stuffed piece with a metal armature inside that allow his arms and legs to be angled slightly. He is covered in pale brown and white fur, has glass eyes with foam latex features, hands and legs with most of his tiny claws still present and a furry rubbery tail. The white hat fits perfectly on his head with small holes cut out to allow his round ears to poke through with navy blue peak and golden braid.

Roderick's superb boat is made from wood painted vivid red and yellow, complete with little silver steering wheel and orange switch which turned the boat 'on' in the film. It does not have a floor to it as the puppeteers needed to access the cast of rodents from below, and could comfortably fit Roderick and his pals inside.

Both the puppet and boat are in a very good condition with evidence of use on the set making an excellent pair from the movie, although missing the thin metal 'windscreen' frame. As the boat measures 50cm x 162cm (20“ x 64”) a specialist shipping service will be required. Customers would please request a quote before ordering.

Materials: Foam Latex, Ferrous Metals, Wood, Man-Made Woven Fibres.
