A set of hand-drawn designs from the production of Richard Donner's 1978 Superman.

These seven hand-drawn pages cover different designs showing possible options of how to film Superman in-flight. This set comes from the personal collection of Paul Weston, a stunt man and stunt coordinator in the first two Superman films as well as many other classic movies. Weston was instrumental in designing and creating some of the revolutionary techniques and rigs for the legendary flying and acrobatic scenes for these Superman films.

The set is comprised of designs for a helicopter rig, two different machines for holding Superman flying horizontally, camera angles for a shot of Superman rescuing a falling man and different angles of descent for the Man of Steel himself. One of the images of Superman has been coloured in blue and red inks. The images were all drawn in pencil on paper and tracing paper by Weston, with these images then copied for producers and heads of department, and were instrumental in creating some of the spectacular flying scenes used in the film.

Displaying some wear from use including creases at the edges and some minor tears, the set remains in an overall very good condition.
