General Suitor's (William Ball) light-up flagship model miniature from Burt Kennedy's Suburban Commando. In the opening sequence, Suitor's flagship was attacked by alien craft as warrior Shep Ramsey (Hulk Hogan) boarded the ship in an attempt to rescue planetary ruler President Hashina (Nick Eldredge). Suitor's ship was deliberately designed in homage to the Imperial Star Destroyer of George Lucas' Star Wars: A New Hope, the Empire's terrifying vessel commanded by Darth Vader (David Prowse). This ornately detailed model is believed to have been cast from legendary model maker Greg Jein's Icarus ship miniature from the production of Franklin J. Schaffner's Planet of the Apes.
This futuristic flagship miniature originates from Planet Hollywood. It is constructed from resin with static cast greeblies affixed on the exterior, an array of LEDs installed throughout the body, and wiring concealed on the interior. Following production, this model underwent sympathetic restoration to reconnect separated wing components and return functionality to the LEDs. It shows evidence of intentional production distressing together with wear consistent with on-set use, handling, and age. Dimensions: 60" x 39" x 14" (152.5 cm x 99 cm x 35.5 cm)
