Steve Nicol's match-worn shirt from England v Scotland on 21st May 1988.
This short-sleeve shirt was worn by Nicol when Scotland lost 1-0 against England at Wembley Stadium during the 1988 Rous Cup. The Rous Cup was held five times during the 1980s and was built around England and Scotland's historic rivalry. The first two iterations featured only England and Scotland, but the 1987, 1988 and 1989 competitions added a third team, in the form of Brazil, Colombia and Chile, respectively. The competition was named after Sir Stanley Rous, who was the secretary of the FA from 1934-1962 and the FIFA President between 1961-1974.
Nicol played 27 times for his country between 1984 and 1992, including representing Scotland at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
