A complete Mobile Infantry costume worn in Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 sci-fi classic Starship Troopers.

Recruited into the Earth Federation’s Mobile Infantry, high schooler Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien) goes through the trials of service within the Federation military as war with the alien Arachnids takes him from Earth to the far corners of the galaxy.

This uniform was made for the production and would have been worn by one of the actors playing the soldiers in the Mobile Infantry who fight the bugs on the ground. The uniform consists of a jacket, trousers, helmet, body armour (which is three parts that clip together), gloves, neck covering, grenade pouches with two stunt grenades, two ammo pouches with two clips, knife pouch with a metal 'knife', and shin-high boots.

As the uniform was made specially for an actor to wear it does not contain any labelling to suggest size but does have ‘WOB’ handwritten inside the jacket. The jacket features a patch on each shoulder and on the left breast. The three pieces of armour are made of rubber and clip together. The knife is cut from metal into the rough shape of a knife but has a blunted, flat end. The ammo clips and grenades are made of foam to protect the actors using them.

The costume has some minor wear from production use, including scratching and scuffing on the armour and there are some noticeable chips on the front of the helmet. The grenades and ammo clips have degraded a little over time, but overall the piece is in an excellent condition.
