Stargate SG-1 (TV Series)

Complete Jaffa Warrior Costume

Stock #22822

A complete Jaffa costume worn in the cult US sci-fi TV series Stargate SG-1. The Jaffa are servants to the Goa'uld, a parasitic race who inhabit human bodies, the Jaffa act as their time honoured bodyguards and incubate the infant Goa'uld in a small abdominal pouch. The most memorable Jaffa from the series is Teal'c (Christopher Judge), Apophis' First Prime who betrays his master to assist the humans from Earth in freeing his people and the universe from the tyranny of the Goa'uld. The race appears throughout all ten seasons of the series, and this particular costume appears to have been worn by a variety of actors during its time on set.

This outstanding costume features the traditionally decorated Jaffa armour pieces made from durable vinyl or foam rubber and painted silver and gold, which includes the neck brace, greaves, gauntlets (although one is made from resin), a back piece and two interchangeable chest pieces (one has been drilled with three holes to accommodate special effects), belt and buckle (one end exhibits much wear and is slightly torn), all of which were fixed to the wearer using velcro, straps and poppers.

Beneath the elaborate armour are several layers to give the Jaffa warriors a truly defended appearance, including a jacket (size 44) and trousers (size 38) made from knitted wool and sprayed silver to look like chainmail. The trousers are held up with black canvas straps over the shoulder, the jacket fastens with buckles and is marked “Stargate RTN Riverworld” and a note informing the costume staff that it had been washed and looks no different. Over these two substantial layers is a ribbed silver leather garment shaped similarly to a waistcoat and zippered at the back, and a matching 'skirt' which features a length of chainmail hanging from the front. Completing the costume is a pair of heavy duty black boots sprayed silver (size 11E). Many of the components have at least one name inside, some with as many as three different names which evidences its extensive use over the years.

The entire set is in a well-worn condition with some minor wear and tear most obvious on the belt and a small split across the back of the neckpiece, but is otherwise well preserved considering how many different episodes this must have been used in. This is a chance to own one of the most instantly recognisable pieces from the Stargate franchise.
