An original special effects mechanical firing Ma'Tok staff from the sci-fi series Stargate SG-1. In the pilot episode "Children of the Gods", Colonel Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) and his team embarked on a rescue mission to the planet Chulak, where they encountered Jaffa warriors armed with Ma'Tok staffs - versatile weapons capable of firing plasma. Teal'c (Christopher Judge), the First Prime of Goa'uld lord Apophis, defected from the Jaffa, handing O'Neill a Ma'Tok staff.
Four staffs were built for the pilot episode to be used for simulating firing, two of which were fully functioning mechanical versions. These staffs continued to be used throughout the series, and were notably carried by both Anderson and Judge.
The staff is constructed from fibreglass and resin finished in verdigris paint to replicate an aged patina, with Goa'uld symbols etched into the body. It houses a circuit board powered by two 9V batteries, which allowed the staff to discharge four squibs when the activation button was pressed; the system could then be reset by powering off the staff. A lever on the shaft controls the opening and closing mechanism of the projectile head, which still functions. The staff exhibits glue residue from its original assembly, along with scratches and scuffs from production use. Dimensions: 202 cm x 17 cm x 10 cm (79.5" x 6.75" x 4")
