”Yes, the Wraith pod. He had to check the... biometrics receiver, needed to reconfirm the frequencies of the normal feedback loop.”
A Wraith costume from the science fiction adventure series, Stargate: Atlantis.
Set in the present day, Lt. Colonel John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) along with his military personnel and a team of scientists investigate distant planets in the Pegasus Galaxy.
This style of costume was worn by various members of the Wraith, the vampiric hive-based species who remained a dominant threat to the Atlantis expedition. Several garments within the costume feature a label with the name ‘Brendan’, suggesting that majority of this costume was worn by Brendan Penny, who is known for playing several non-warrior male Wraith characters in season four.
The black costume consists of a long jacket, a long waistcoat, a pair of leather trousers, a pair of gauntlets and a belt. Made mainly from soft tailored leather, the coat features layered textured panels on the top of the sleeves adding shaping to the shoulder. A dark blue satin has been used for the lining of the garment and the jacket closes with hidden snap buttons and hook and cinch clips. A label reading ‘Cody Laudan’ has been attached at the neckline.
The waistcoat is long in length, is constructed of various panels of leather and has the same fastenings as the coat on the front. The trousers are marked as ‘waist-35’ and a label with the name ‘Andrew Hein’ is attached on the inside of the waistband. Two strips of textured fabric creating a pointed shape adorn the front of the gauntlets and black lacing has been used, allowing the pieces to be attached comfortably to the actors arm.
The costume displays signs of wear including several holes in the lining of the jacket, two circular shaped marks on the front of the jacket indicating that poppers have previously been applied, a minor hole in the front of the waistcoat and minor marks on several of the garments. However, despite this wear, the costume remains in very good production-used condition.
