Our expert's notes
The Orb was inspired by the beautiful and unique gifts that the jeweler Peter Carl Faberge was commissioned to make for the Imperial Russian Romanov dynasty from the most exquisite and precious materials, metals and gemstones. The artist was especially inspired by Faberge's portrait eggs including a particular one on which the jeweler was able to represent 300 years of the Russian royal family. Likewise, with the Skywalker Dynasty Orb, the viewer can see family members and key points in their relationships on the outside of the orb. As with Faberge's eggs, there's a surprise inside: a mini glass "plasma ball" that represents the Force that surrounds us and binds us together.
