Qui-Gon Jinn's (Liam Neeson) duelling lightsaber from George Lucas' Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. The Jedi Master wielded his signature green lightsaber throughout the film, including when he duelled with Sith apprentice Darth Maul (Ray Park) on Tatooine and in Naboo's Theed Palace. Qui-Gon's lightsaber was subsequently used by Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) to avenge his master, and was also featured on page 12 of David West Reynolds' book Star Wars Episode I: The Visual Dictionary.
Many variations of lightsabers were designed for the film by design director Doug Chiang, with each Jedi having a uniquely crafted lightsaber designed to reflect their personality. Neeson personally picked this design for his character.
This lightsaber consists of a lightweight hilt constructed primarily from resin with ribbed detailing running down to the base, a red static activator switch on one side, and a black and silver-colour paint finish. It is cast around a threaded steel rod protruding through the projection plate for affixing a blade, which would then be digitally overlaid with its signature green glow in post-production.
Also included is an aluminium "blade" (staff) painted green with two metal screws for affixing it to the body. The hilt exhibits flaking paint in multiple places and staining on the rod from production use, while the blade exhibits scuff marks throughout. Dimensions: 124.5 cm x 5 cm x 5 cm (49" x 2" x 2")
Estimate: £15,000 - 30,000 Ω
