An original Sarlacc Pit Tooth from Stephen Marquand’s 1983 classic, Star War: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. When their rescue mission goes wrong, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) are sentenced by the ruthless Jabba the Hutt to a slow death by digestion in the desert-dwelling Sarlacc Pit. This tooth is one of several made for use in the production’s Yuma, Arizona Sarlacc Pit set.
This Sarlacc tooth was constructed with a grey foam interior and coated with a light brown urethane. Tan, brown, and green paint was then applied to the area of the tooth that would be visible on camera to give the piece a menacing, ancient feel. The urethane has begun to crack with age and a small portion has fully chipped off the back of the tooth, leaving the foam interior exposed. Despite its wear with age, this rare piece remains in good condition.
