An original piece of Rotoscope artwork from the production of Geroge Lucas’ Star Wars sequel, Return of the Jedi.

This hand-drawn rotoscope pencil drawing is at an intermediary stage of the traditional visual effects technique where the animator traces over a projected film image by hand, frame by frame, to modify the image. Rotoscope animation was used in Star Wars to give the lightsaber blades their glow and to animate laser blasts. In the particular frame, labelled ‘X35’, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is about to swing his lightsaber down towards some oncoming Imperial speeder’s on Endor.

The artwork is presented in a custom-built framed display featuring a laser-cut mount board displaying the film’s title and a still from the film. The display exhibits minor scuffs. Otherwise, it remains in very good overall condition.
