A 35mm Eyemo movie camera and accessories formerly owned by Thomas G. Smith, General Manager of Industrial Light and Magic. The Eyemo camera was used to film one shot for Return of the Jedi--the POV shot of the Falcon cockpit racing out of the Death Star tunnel, narrowly avoiding the encroaching flames. to achieve the shot, the camera was placed in a sling shot and launched through the air as an explosion was set off behind it. The camera was caught in a net, and footage was captured of the explosion "chasing" the camera. This element was later composited into the film. As the camera had no anamorphic lens, the shot was stretched wider than it would have been normally--but this worked fine for the shot.
The same camera was later used for another explosion shot in the Ewok television film The Battle for Endor.
Included with the camera package are several magazines (wood versions and metal versions), multiple lenses, and an accessory kit bearing a vintage The Empire Strikes Back sticker (no doubt from its time at ILM).
Eyemo cameras are frequently used in the film industry as "crash cameras", for shots that put the equipment in danger, as they are far cheaper than typical main-unit cameras. This lot shows some wear due to production use and age, however it remains in overall good used condition. As this item contains electronic components, every effort has been made to describe them accurately; however no guarantee or warranty is made as to functionality, lifespan or safety of those components.
