John Coppinger Hand-Drawn Color Study for Jabba the Hutt's Eye

Stock #85845

A hand-drawn color study for Jabba the Hutt’s eye made for the production of Richard Marquand’s Star Wars - Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. For the film, extensive animatronics were used to create the now well-known appearance of the crime boss. This piece was drawn by John Coppinger, animatronics engineer for the production.

This piece is drawn on two pieces of paper with the right corner of his face with a curved hole cut into it on the top page and his eye drawn onto another on the bottom page. The concept has been drawn in pencil and is detailed with a combination of colored pencils and marker. The bottom right corner features the artist’s signature. Showing minimal signs of wear from age, this piece is in overall very good condition.
