Star Wars - Ep V - The Empire Strikes Back

Tauntaun Head Casting Pair

Stock #67064

A pair of tauntaun head castings created from molds made for Irvin Kershner’s sci-fi classic Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. Phil Tippett animated the tauntauns for the film by developing a new technique in stop-motion animation that would eventually be known as go-motion, which uses motion blur to make creature movements more fluid and realistic. After the initial head was sculpted, the size was changed resulting in the variation seen in these examples. These casts were made from the original molds years later.

Cast with resin, these heads are sculpted with detail in order to give the tauntaun a realistic appearance. The grey resin has two spots present where the horns would be placed.

Showing minimal signs of wear this lot is offered in excellent condition.
