Star Wars - Ep V - The Empire Strikes Back

Brian Johnson-Autographed Storyboard - TIE Fighters Pursue Millennium Falcon (HE1)

Stock #80283

A signed, production-used storyboard copy used in the production of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The storyboard is signed by visual effects supervisor Brian Johnson, who would go on to win an Oscar for his contribution to the film.

This storyboard came from a complete set created for the visual effects sequences, which included everything from miniature ships in the sky to the rotoscopic effects of lasers firing from the Death Star’s gun turrets.

The page features two illustrations. At the top, the Millennium Falcon dashes through space – the camera perspective is from below. The lower frame is a closeup drawing of four Imperial TIE Fighters, who are in pursuit of the Falcon. Beneath the images are printed scene descriptions and shooting instructions: ‘Ext. Space. Falcon to camera followed by 4 Ties’. The storyboard is labelled as Part of the “Hoth Escape” sequence, shot “HE 1”, page “233”.

This storyboard is printed on a sheet of pink-coloured paper and is hole punched at the bottom from where it was grouped in sequence, forming a comprehensive shot by shot miniature version of the movie’s spectacular and ground-breaking effects. It comes framed in a custom-built display with laser-cut mount board etched with the iconic movie title.
