Star Wars - Ep IV - A New Hope

Supersnipe 1978 TIE Fighter Art Print

Stock #49738

An artwork print from the New York comic art gallery Supersnipe. Part-owned by George Lucas at the time of Star Wars’ release, Supersnipe was a gallery specialising in the illustrations of famous comics artists, and was one of the very first retailers to offer art prints to budding collectors in the wake of the film’s meteoric success. Four prints of artwork were offered by Supersnipe based on production artwork by concept artist Ralph McQuarrie and effects artist Joe Johnston.

This print, based on art by Johnston for the first Star Wars film, depicts TIE fighters flying over the surface of the Death Star. The print is rendered on thick off-white card and is unsigned. A fascinating piece from Star Wars’ promotional past and incredibly rare, the print remains in very good condition from its creation in 1978.
