A piece of the Death Star model used in the original 1977 Star Wars film Episode IV: A New Hope. Pieces such of this were part of a large model set which was used in the film’s epic finale as the forces of the Rebel Alliance attacked the Imperial Death Star from their base on the moon of Yavin.
Made of biscuit foam with a grey paint finish, this is one of the smaller pieces created by ILM model makers for use in creating the large filming miniature of the Death Star surface. Many interlocking abstract pieces were made, painted and detailed to the high standard that ILM are now renowned for.

This piece originally comes from the collection of visual effects guru Richard Edlund and remains in a very good production-used condition. The piece measures 7.5cm x 7.5cm and comes presented in a stunning framed display featuring a laser-cut mount board with the film’s title and a description of the piece, production stills and a hinged front panel allowing quick and easy access to the piece. The centrepiece of any collection, the display measures 57cm x 48cm x 8cm (22.5” x 19” x 3.25”).
