Issued to coincide with the release of George Lucas' first entry in the "Star Wars" Universe, this softcover program consists of 20 pages featuring great black-and-white and color photographs from the film with a center two-page spread. It includes cast bios and a "Behind the Scenes" section about the making of the film. This example is in excellent condition and displays only a small crease on the bottom of the back cover. Also included is a group of twelve vintage original photographs, which are in excellent condition and includes five scene stills from the film. There are five photographs in both a portrait as well as landscape format advertising 13 half-hour episodes for broadcast with KUSC/Los Angeles radio station as produced by NPR (National Public Radio). Lastly, there are two behind-the-scenes photographs of model makers creating various craft. All of the photographs are in excellent condition with one displaying a small crease on Harrison Ford's image.
George Lucas conceived "Star Wars" after "THX 1138" (1971) and developed it following "American Graffiti" (1973). Filming began in March 1976 in Tunisia and England, with Lucas founding Industrial Light & Magic for the visual effects. Despite going $3 million over budget and doubts from cast and crew, the film became one of the most influential ever, launching a global pop culture phenomenon with novels, comics, games, merchandise, and theme park attractions.
