A high-altitude Death Star surface model miniature panel from George Lucas' Star Wars: A New Hope. Pieces such as this were part of a large model set which was used in the film's epic finale as the forces of the Rebel Alliance attacked the Imperial Death Star from their base on the moon of Yavin. Many interlocking abstract pieces were made, specifically for shots where Rebel fighters flew high above its massive surface, were painted and detailed to the high standard that Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) are renowned for. Pieces of the set were later given out to attendees at the premiere of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

Designed and constructed by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), this biscuit foam panel is decorated with cast greeblies and finished in gray paint. Its underside is unfinished. This lot exhibits a buildup of grime and chipped paint. Dimensions: 4" x 3" x 1.25" (10.25 cm x 7.75 cm x 3 cm)
