A Klingon staff from the production of the sixth film in the original Star Trek series: The Undiscovered Country, starring William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. This staff was one of several made for the production and can be seen with Klingons at two very important points in the film. This includes when Captain Kirk (Shatner) and McCoy (DeForest Kelley) are on trial for the murder of Chancellor Gorkon (David Warner) and are held by several Klingons in the gallery. They can also be seen when Kirk and McCoy are caught by the guards from the Rura Penthe prison after they have escaped.
The spear is constructed of a metal pole which has been painted a dark brown with a dark brown resin side hook attached three quarters of the way up. At the top there is a red and black resin spearhead attached which has wiring with a jack plug fitting to power, two wires have been connected for our own photo of the piece. The entire item measures 207cm (81.5”) in length, although several were made for the film many were destroyed after the production had finished. This is a rare piece which remains in excellent production used condition.
