A hand-painted Andrew Probert early travel pod concept with photocopies and a docking ring blueprint from Robert Wise's Star Trek: The Motion Picture. In a memorable sequence, Kirk (William Shatner) and Scotty (James Doohan) took the travel pod to the newly upgraded USS Enterprise.
This lot features a hand-painted concept piece of the travel pod approaching the Enterprise and two printed copies of hand-drawn concept artwork depicting the pod's approach to dock. The blueprint, dated October 20, 1978, displays designs for the docking ring and details the pod door gripper, featuring a side view of the doors and slots of the docking ring. The blueprint shows minor discoloration from age. Dimensions: (largest) 24" x 18" x 0.5" (61 cm x 46 cm x 1 cm)
