A Moto (Heather Langenkamp) Bust made for J.J. Abrams' 2013 sci-fi sequel, Star Trek: Into Darkness. In the film, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) leads a manhunt into Klingon territory in order to bring Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch) to justice for attacking the Federation. This bust was made for Moto, who can be seen outside the brig during scenes in which Khan is imprisoned, and later when Kirk is beamed back to the Enterprise from the USS Vengeance. Portrayed by make-up artist and former Nightmare on Elm Street actress, Heather Langenkamp, Moto is a Starfleet Security Officer on board the USS Enterprise. Conceived by influential make-up effects sculptor Moto Hata, the design was re-purposed for use in this film at the request of Langenkamp and her husband David LeRoy Anderson, both of whom served as make-up artists on the film.
The bust is made from foam latex and features a grumpy expression with elongated head that has been painted with varying shades of green and yellow. The bust has been dressed in a red shirt and is loosely glued to a wood base, although most of the foam has torn from the adhesive. Attached to the back of Moto is a rubber tube that connects to a plastic syringe.
