The Klingon Superior Officer’s (Nick Tarabay) knife from J.J. Abrams’s 2013 science fiction spectacular, Star Trek Into Darkness. The film follows Captain James Kirk (Chris Pines) and the crew of the Starship Enterprise as they face-off against a traitor in their ranks. This knife was custom made by production for use by the Klingons’ superior officer when he attempts to stab Lt. Uhura (Zoe Saldana).
The knife is made of solid resin with leather strips coiled around the grip. The piece was sanded and painted to resemble a sharpened metal blade.
Though a departure from traditional Klingon weaponry, this piece was designed to hearken back to the race’s appearances in the original Star Trek universe. The angular lines and sharp edges were all purposefully selected to help demonstrate the aliens’ warrior heritage. The knife measures 15”x2” (38cm x 6cm) and is in great, production used condition.
