Captain James T. Kirk's (William Shatner) maroon Starfleet costume from David Carson's Star Trek: Generations. The retired Kirk wore his maroon Starfleet uniform when he attended the maiden voyage of the USS Enterprise-B - the voyage during which he was presumed lost after an energy ribbon struck the ship's hull. Later, after Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) entered the Nexus, he discovered Kirk - still wearing his Starfleet excursion uniform - also trapped within the Nexus.
Generations served as a passing of the torch from the original Enterprise crew that starred in the first six films to the Next Generation crew; this being the first of the Next Generation-era theatrical films following the end of the television series. The film was nominated for two Saturn Awards® and a Hugo®, and it led to three additional Next Generation feature films. While the maroon bridge uniform design appeared in earlier Star Trek films, new jackets were specifically constructed for Generations, cut longer at the request of the director.
This costume consists of a maroon wool, single-breasted jacket with snap closures, tan poly-cotton paneled chest interior, and a leather belt with a brass-color metal Starfleet emblem buckle; a Command division ivory poly-blend turtleneck with a rear zip closure, hand-marked "W.S." on a Star Trek VII label; and a pair of black wool pants with red side striping, made specifically for the film, featuring a Star Trek VII label marked "William S," consistent with other examples of labeling for the film. The jacket includes a Command division shoulder stripe with rank metal pins and a metal twist-lock fastener. Also included are two lengths of additional black elastic strips and a hand-marked production tag reading "Mr. Shatner No 2 11/94." This lot exhibits mild discoloration and faded text.
Estimate: $75,000 - 150,000
