A screen-matched Duke Tristan Bournemouth portrait hand-painted by portraitist Timna Woollard from Robert Young's Splitting Heirs. After circumstantial evidence came to light that he may be the missing Bournemouth Baby, Tommy Patel (Eric Idle) explored his potential Bournemouth heritage and took a tour through the estate containing numerous familial portraits bearing his resemblance. Woollard, born to film designer parents and trained at St Martins College, has spent three decades painting period portraits for major productions. Splitting Heirs is her first known work, although she worked uncredited alongside her sister Joanne, the film's Set Decorator and a two-time Academy Award® nominee. This particular portrait's unique varnish cracking pattern screen-matches to its appearance in the tour segment.
This painting originates from Planet Hollywood. Oil on canvas, this hand-painted portrait was covered in a craquelure varnish. Production intentionally distressed it to appear aged with cracking in the varnish. It shows tearing and a hole in the canvas, in addition to wear consistent with on-set use, handling, and age.
