A Large Static Fred/Ginger Puppet from Vincenzo Natali's 2009 sci-fi film, Splice. In the film, genetic engineers Clive Nicoli (Adrian Brody) and Elsa Kast (Sarah Polley) splice together DNA from different animals, making hybrids creatures. Born from these experiments are "Fred" and "Ginger;" two blob creatures that gain the scientists notoriety.
This puppet is made of silicone over a foam latex interior, and has features such as a small spine and has a realistic texture and composition reminiscent of a human brain. The underside of the silicone puppet has a long slit where the interior of the piece can be seen (see photos). Included with the puppet is an umbilical cord which has a silicone skin over a harden foam rope. This item shows some wear due to production use, including small breaks in the silicone, however it remains in overall good used condition.
