Spider-Man's (Tobey Maguire) symbiote costume from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3. A mysterious alien symbiote fell to Earth in a meteorite and bonded with Peter Parker and altered his Spider-Man suit, enhanced his powers, and influenced his behaviour for the worse.

Spider-Man 3, which adapted the fan-favourite symbiote saga and marked the highly anticipated big screen debut of major Spider-Man villain Venom, grossed $890.9 million making it the third highest-grossing film in 2007 worldwide.

Created by Frontline Designs, this lot consists of a black skin-tight Spandex bodysuit with a gusset in the lining labelled "Black" and marked "6" with cut outs for the lenses and shoes built into the suit. The suit is decorated throughout with grey foam latex web detailing and black latex spiders, and enclosed with zippers along the sides and lower back. Beneath the spandex mask is a lightweight internal plastic helmet shell marked "CHRIS," lined with soft foam padding around the nose and jawline fitted to the performer's face. This understructure gives the head its form and allows for limited jaw movement via a cut mesh panel integrated along the lower jaw. The helmet comes with two sets of lenses made of metallic black-painted resin trim, acrylic lenses on the exterior, and metal mesh on the interior. One set of lenses is marked "10-14 CHRIS." The lenses attach to the helmets with two prongs along the bottom to sit in holes on the mask and stay in place with magnets at the tip ends. The costume is displayed on a custom-made mannequin, proportional to fit the suit properly, outfitted with a production-made mesh spandex and foam muscle undersuit labeled for Tobey Maguire. Several of the original muscle components had degraded or gone missing over time and were carefully replaced using newly cast pieces derived from original molds to preserve the original silhouette and proportions. This lot exhibits extremely fragile foam latex on the webbing detailings that is subject to crumbling and flaking. Dimensions: (mannequin) 51 cm x 25.5 cm x 178 cm (20" x 10" x 70")
