Framed artwork for a title card from the production of Stanley Kubrick's Spartacus. As was standard with many studio pictures of the era, the historical epic opened with a card featuring the film's title.

Hailed as one of the biggest event films of its era, Spartacus received six Academy Award® nominations upon release and held its position as Universal Studios' highest-grossing film for more than a decade. Its opening sequence, where credits roll over chiaroscuro images of ancient Roman artifacts, earned legendary design artist Saul Bass some of the best notices of his career.

This artwork with the film's title carved into wood and highlighted in gold-color was designed by famed Hollywood title design studio Pacific Title & Art, though its specific use remains unknown, as the studio also created original artwork for such related projects as trailers, theatrical releases in foreign language markets, and televised releases of various films. Rendered in mixed media, it comes mounted inside a custom frame, which features a Pacific Title inventory sticker numbered "2124754" along the bottom edge. The title card exhibits cracking, paint flaking, and exposed wood from age. Dimensions: (framed) 33.5" x 23.5" x 1.5" (85 cm x 59.75 cm x 4 cm)
