A piece of arm armour used in the acclaimed Starz TV series Spartacus: Blood and Sand. The first season of the show delves into the past of the Greek soldier-turned-slave Spartacus (Andy Whitfield) as he goes from pariah to hero of the Capuan arena in the ludus of Batiatus (John Hannah), and the ludus’ eventual downfall at Spartacus’ hands.
This elaborate arm armour was used for ceremonial purposes and was worn by the gladiator Hamilcar (Siaosi Fonua) at the festivities of Numerius' (Lliam Powell) birthday in the episode “Party Favors”. The armour was also worn by the gladiator Narto (James Cook), one of the gladiators within the ludus of Lentulus Batiatus, during the funeral of his father Titus (Jeffrey Thomas) in the episode “The Bitter End” of prequel follow-up Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.

The armour is composed of vinyl lorica squamata plates with leather strapping and faux-fur and cast metal dress-up components around the shoulders. The galerus on the shoulder features the visage of the Roman god Neptune with waves crashing down around him, all of which are made of cast metal. The leather strap across the chest is covered in metal stud detailing, an addition to the strap for use in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. The piece is finished to replicate the appearance of worn bronze with distressing applied to give it a well-used appearance. Label internally are marked “Hamilcar” and “Ambiorix Montage & Funeral”.

Displaying minimal wear from use, this stunning piece of armour remains in excellent condition.
