A Marine M590 assault rifle and M-70 pistol from the 1995 TV series Space: Above and Beyond.

These weapons and others like them were made for the production and were used throughout the series by the Wildcards and the grunts of the United States Marine Corps as they do battle with the alien race known as the ‘Chigs’. Made of dense, hard rubber with metal armatures within, this rifle was used for scenes in which hero, live-firing M590s were not required or for scenes involving stunt work. The rifle is a casting of one of the hero weapons and features intricate detailing throughout, from the elaborate arm support and vented barrel through to the targeting array. The stunt firearm is finished in green with black and metallic used for the working parts and attachments. A webbing sling is present, attached to the weapon’s left hand side.

The pistol is made of lighter rubber and has been painted similarly. There is some wear from production use and age, including scuffing and scratching. The barrel of the rifle has come away at some point but overall both pieces remain in an excellent condition.
