Sleepy Hollow

Reverend Steenwyck's (Jeffrey Jones) SFX Waistcoat

Stock #31152

Reverend Steenwyck's (Jeffrey Jones) SFX Waistcoat worn in Tim Burton's 1999 take on the Gothic fairy tale, Sleepy Hollow.

In the film, Inspector Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is dispatched to the small New York town of Sleepy Hollow, where he must investigate a string of grisly murders reportedly performed by a demonic ghost known as the Headless Horseman.

This waistcoat can be seen worn by Steenwyck during the scene in which the Headless Horseman attacks the town church. During the attack, Steenwyck attempts to silence Doctor Lancaster (Ian McDiarmid) and is shot by Baltus Van Tassel (Michael Gambon) in the process.

Made from cotton, velvet, and silk, this SFX waistcoat has been fashioned with a blood squib behind the left chest flap. The squib has been attached to the fabric using multiple layers of shiny black tape. This waistcoat includes a gold colored decorative trim along the front of the coat, as well as along the two front pockets. Attached to the front of the coat are ten buttons, with an additional four located under each pocket. This garment also features simple laces located on the lower back, allowing the costume to be worn with a snug fit.

Please note that this costume features minor wear from production use, including one missing button down the front of the coat, as well as a production made hole from the gunshot wound with red stains surrounding it from the squibs stage blood. While this costume does not feature any sizing information, it remains in good production-worn condition.
