An original production cel and matching production drawing featuring Marge, Patty and Selma reimagined as witches in the Easy-Bake Coven segment of "Treehouse of Horror VIII" (Season 9, Episode 4).
With each Treehouse episode split into three short stories, far fewer cels were produced per segment than in a typical episode. Complete multi-character setups like this, with great expressions and character sizes, and paired with original matching background and production drawing, are seldom found.
The trio are shown leaving the cabin with broomsticks and trick-or-treat bags in hand. Behind them sits the full hand-painted production background, rich with dusk tones and stylised architecture.
What makes this cel setup so brilliant is that they all look true to character, even as 17th-century witches. Patty scowls, and Selma has gained nothing from her magical transformation except an extra wart and green skin. This setup includes the original hand-painted animation cel, accompanied by the matching production drawing, both of which bear the official 20th Century Fox seal. The lot comes with a 20th Century Fox Original Animation Art Simpsons certificate of authenticity. The drawing paper exhibits minor creasing.
A fabulous scene from one of the show's most collected Halloween specials. A rare find, and a strong entry in any Simpsons collection. Dimensions (each mounted): 39 cm x 45.5 cm (15.25" x 18")
