A limited edition Garden of Springfield sericel, one of the most memorable releases from the official Simpsons art programme. This particular sericel was released as a limited edition of 1200.

The artwork reimagines the Garden of Eden through Springfield's irreverent lens. Homer is tempted with the forbidden fruit, a pink frosted doughnut, by a snake rendered in the likeness of Mr Burns. Marge looks on in horror as angelic Bart, Lisa and Maggie perch in the doughnut tree, while Santa's Little Helper and Snowball complete the scene. The Garden of Springfield captures the show's blend of satire, parody and pop culture in a single striking artwork.

Produced using the fine art process of serigraphy, each cel was created in 25 vivid colours and paired with a printed background, complete with the 20th Century Fox gold seal of authenticity. This example carries extra significance as it was hand-signed by Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson, at a London gallery event in 1999.

With The Simpsons now recognised as the longest-running animated sitcom in television history, early official sericels such as this remain highly collectable. Dimensions: 45.5 cm x 40.5 cm (18" x 16")
