Penny for your thoughts, Mrs. K?
An original production cel featuring Bart Simpson and his long-suffering teacher Edna Krabappel from the episode "Bart the Lover" (Season 3, Episode 16). First aired on 13 February 1992, the Emmy Award-winning episode sees Bart prank Mrs. Krabappel by answering her lonely-hearts ad as "Woodrow Wilson", setting up one of the most memorable storylines of the early seasons.
This hand-painted cel setup captures Bart mid-sentence, holding a mug in a bartender-style conversation with Mrs. Krabappel, whose expression says it all. Both characters are beautifully rendered on a single sheet of acetate in cel-vinyl paint with xerographic line work, and the piece is set against a matching line art background showing the detail of the original scene layout. These production elements show exactly how the sequence would have appeared during broadcast, making it a genuine part of Simpsons history.
The cel carries the official 20th Century Fox gold seal from the studio art programme and was signed in 1999 by Nancy Cartwright, the Emmy Award-winning voice of Bart Simpson, at a London gallery event. That combination of production provenance and cast autograph makes this a truly exceptional piece.
Artwork from classic episodes of The Simpsons is increasingly sought after, with Season 3 widely regarded as part of the show's golden era. A rare chance to acquire not only production-used art from one of its most celebrated stories, but also a signed piece directly connected to the performer behind television's most famous underachiever. Dimensions (mounted): 39 cm x 45.75 cm (15.25" x 18")
