A Plaza Motel shack model miniature from Michael Ritchie's A Simple Wish with a framed poster autographed by the director. Murray (Martin Short), Annabel Greening's (Mara Wilson) incompetent male fairy godmother, accidentally turned Duane (Lanny Flaherty) into a giant rabbi instead of a giant rabbit, leading Duane to crush the Plaza Motel underfoot. The Motel was brought to life through a combination of live-action photography and model miniatures created by visual effects company Matte World Digital.
This model miniature shack is made of mixed media, mostly wood, with a front porch, shuttered windows, shingled roof, and a sign on top reading "Plaza Motel" in red with bits of broken tubing meant to look like the remnants of neon lights. The miniature is intentionally distressed by production to appear old and worn down. Also included is a color-printed poster signed "For the genius minds at Matte World Digital You proved seeing is believing. Fondly, Michael Ritchie" in black ink and mounted inside a custom wooden frame. The shack exhibits additional wear from age, including the front steps and other small elements being broken off, while the frame exhibits minor scuffing and dust particles along the edges. Dimensions: (miniature) 20" x 22" x 14" (51 cm x 56 cm x 35.75 cm)
Estimate: $600 - 1,200
