Production illustrations of an alien and spacecraft, both hand-painted by Ralph McQuarrie for a 1987 Chevrolet commercial shot in Showscan. Showscan was a high-speed, large-format filmmaking process pioneered by visual effects master Douglas Trumbull. This advertisement for the Chevrolet Corsica utilized the process to depict a benign abduction by friendly extraterrestrials whose ship McQuarrie designed.

These illustrations - one depicting a tall, regal extraterrestrial, the other depicting a Chevrolet Corsica inside a spaceship and labeled "Alternate Spacecraft Interior (Showscan)" - are rendered in mixed media on illustration board. Both exhibit tape residue on their reverses. Dimensions: (largest) 14" x 11.5" (35.75 cm x 29.25 cm)
