A set of 18 Johnny 5 (Tim Blaney) robot blueprints hand-drawn by mechanical effects expert Stuart Ziff as well as behind-the-scenes photos and negatives from the production of John Badham's Short Circuit. NOVA Laboratory S.A.I.N.T. (Strategic Artificially Intelligent Nuclear Transport) robot Number 5 became sentient after a lightning strike and adopted the name "Johnny" after making friends with Stephanie Speck (Ally Sheedy). The robot was realized for the screen through a combination of full-size, remote-control animatronics and lower-function or static puppets.

This lot consists of 18 blueprints for the robot's mechanical designs hand-numbered, hand-drawn, dated, and signed in graphite on drafting paper by Ziff; nine color-printed photographs depicting the construction of a Johnny 5 robot; and two strips of 35mm Kodacolor VR film negatives from the same photoshoot. The blueprints exhibit fold lines, smudging, and staining from being stored and handled. Dimensions: (largest) 11" x 17" (28 cm x 43.25 cm)
