"A Masterpiece Of Modern Horror". This US One-Sheet (also used in the British campaign) was designed by the creative genius Saul Bass for Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (1980) and based on the novel by famed horror author Stephen King. Jack Nicholson's career-defining acting and rapid character decay are not only his talent and brilliance but are largely due to Kubrick's persistent vision of what he wanted to see and the nearly countless scene retakes he demanded. The perfect example of a simple less is more film poster design.
