A rubber stunt Mauser pistol used in the production of Guy Ritchie’s action adventure Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Duelling his nemesis in a game of wits and deception, Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr) and his trusty assistant Dr John Watson (Jude Law) travel from London to continental Europe in search of the evil Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris).
This pistol was used by the world’s greatest detective as he gets roped into a gunfight with renowned assassin Sebastian Moran (Paul Anderson) within the bowels of the Meinhard weapons factory. Made of hard rubber for stunt use or for when a hero working example of the Mauser pistol was not required, the pistol is a very high quality casting from a real C96 pistol and features all of the weapon’s original stampings and markings, with the weapon’s safety, hammer and top sight detailing coming through. The hammer, sights and breech are finished in silver paint while the pistol grip is finished in brown to replicate the look of wood, and the pistol’s main body, trigger and barrel are finished in black.
This excellent piece measures 31cm x 17cm x 4cm (36”) and is in a very good production used condition, with relatively minor wear from use on set. The pistol comes presented in a stunning framed poster display, featuring the film's theatrical character poster, a description of the item and a beautiful antique style frame that opens to allow access to the piece. Measuring 78cm x 104cm (30.75” x 41”), this display would make an excellent centrepiece for any collection.
