This outstanding panoramic production cel features the entire Mystery Inc. team; Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Velma, Fred, and Daphne, used in the making of Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders, hand-painted on celluloid and accompanied by its original matching production drawing and official Hanna-Barbera Studio Art Program seal.
While the haunted mansion studio printed background was later added for presentation, it complements the cel's sweeping composition, allowing the artwork's scale and group setting to be fully appreciated. The accompanying line drawing retains its studio annotations, offering a valuable insight into the final years of traditional, hand-painted animation at Hanna-Barbera.
Hand-signed by veteran designer Bob Singer, whose work helped define the visual identity of Scooby-Doo for over five decades, this piece represents the franchise's evolution from Saturday-morning television to feature-length animation. Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders followed the acclaimed Zombie Island (1998) and Witch's Ghost (1999), forming part of a highly successful trilogy that revitalised the brand for a new generation. The film was both a critical and commercial success, blending nostalgia with fresh energy and reaching millions of new viewers worldwide.
As with other Hanna-Barbera productions of the era, original hand-painted cels like this have become increasingly sought after. Panoramic setups featuring all five characters are seldom seen, as the group was typically animated in alternating or partial compositions. In the film, they rarely appear all together in this full figure splendour.
For many collectors who grew up in the 1980s and 1990s, these works capture the defining animation of their childhood, the last generation of traditionally painted art before studios transitioned to digital production.
Now over 20 years old, such pieces stand at the intersection of legacy and modern nostalgia, bridging generations of fans and marking a key era in animation history. Dimensions: 41 cm x 51 cm (16" x 20")
