The Bangalore Assistant's (Derek Lea) screen-matched Ranger helmet from Steven Spielberg's Academy Award-winning WWII film Saving Private Ryan.

The Bangalore Assistant worked with Captain Miller's (Tom Hanks) squad on Omaha Beach to breach the German defensive line. He survived a bullet to the helmet but unadvisedly took his helmet off and was killed by a second shot to the head. This helmet matches through the shape of the bullet holes and other imperfections on the helmet.

This fibreglass helmet is painted to look like metal and retains the remnants of the two squibs used to create the bullet holes. Some of the paint has chipped away in places. Dimensions: 28 cm x 24 cm x 18 cm (11" x 9.5" x 7")
