A selection of racing car parts used in the production of Ron Howard’s 2013 sports-drama, Rush. Based on a true story, the film follows racing icons Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) and James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) during their infamous 1976 Formula One season. As their rivalry on and off the track begins to take its toll, a near-fatal injury leaves Lauda fighting for the championship and Hunt in pole position to take the title.

This is a set of full size Formula One Beta March race car shell components belonging to driver Vittorio Brambilla, seen most notably during the Italian Grand Prix. The chassis were adapted to enable a number of different shells to be fitted, which allowed the main racer’s cars to be called into existence without the need for a full complement of cars. Only nine ‘movie copies’ were made for the movie; the rest were actually real vintage race cars from the era loaned to the production. The panels are made from fibreglass and metal painted orange with an Italian flag design at the top of the cockpit and embellished with the Beta insignia. Each component remains in very good condition with slight wear from production use and storage. There are 6 components in total: cockpit cover, front wing, side pod (left and right), engine cover and air intake, with the largest component measuring approximately 193 x 71 x 33cm (76 x 28 x 13”).
