A set of Ferrari race car alloys used in the production of Ron Howard’s 2013 sports-drama, Rush. Based on a true story, the film follows racing icons Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) and James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) during their infamous 1976 Formula One season. As their rivalry on and off the track begins to take its toll, a near-fatal injury leaves Lauda fighting for the championship and Hunt in pole position to take the title.

These alloys formed the central part of one of the sets of wheels found on Niki Lauda’s Ferrari throughout the controversial championship season. Made from magnesium, the alloys would have been bolted to large rubber tyres to form each wheel of the Ferrari. They feature a gold coloured centre with bolts on one side which would form the inside of the wheel, with bolts surrounding the inside rim. A set of counter balance weights of 5g and 10g are secure to the inside of three of the alloys. The label “TA” is handwritten on the outside of one of the front alloys. Each alloy remains in excellent production-used condition, with the rear alloys measuring approximately 36.5 x 36.5 x 46cm (14.25 x 14.25 x 18”) each, and the front alloys measuring approximately 36.5 x 36.5 x 30cm (14.25 x 14.25 x 12”) each.
