An Imperial stormtrooper helmet from Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Imperial stormtroopers wore their standard-issue helmets throughout the film as they imposed the growing Galactic Empire's stranglehold over the galaxy, including during their battles with Saw Gerrera's (Forest Whitaker) freedom fighters on Jedha and in the Imperial data vault on Scarif.
Imperial stormtroopers first appeared in their imposing white costumes in Star Wars: A New Hope. Originally designed by renowned franchise artists Ralph McQuarrie and John Mollo and sculpted by Liz Moore, Andrew Ainsworth, and Nick Pemberton, the Stormtroopers' signature helmets were based in part on those worn by German Sturmtruppen and Japanese Menpo masks. These designs carried over with minor adjustments in both design and materials throughout later Star Wars films, which made the Stormtroopers among the most enduring and recognizable designs in franchise history.
For Rogue One, costume designers David Crossman and Glyn Dillon designed helmets for the Stormtroopers using 3D renderings by costume concept modeller Sam Williams. Famously, the Stormtrooper helmets were made intentionally asymmetrical in homage to the organic, hand-built looks seen in Lucas' original trilogy.
This helmet is cast from vinyl with a black rubber vocoder and trim, grey plastic greebles affixed, and green-tinted lenses in set. It features a webbed nylon chin strap and dense grey foam padding lining on the interior. This lot exhibits discolouration on the back of the helmet and on the bottom.
Estimate: £20,000 - 40,000 Ω
